A couple of thoughts FWIW
1. If you want to see a civil war in the US, ask people to produce an ID card to get into events. Same with getting chipped.
2. A Superbowl parade in SF would have caused a lot of spread of the virus - without a doubt. Doesn't matter which side of the floor you vote with. Had to do some interesting research for a consulting project. At the beginning of COVID, the number 1 county in infections per capita was Blaine County, Idaho. Not NY, CA, etc. Interesting article on why - the lack of social distancing had a lot to do with the spread and ultimate death. Ski resorts were big culprits in mass outbreaks - saw other data from Colorado that was similar.

3. That said, I don't think Fauci is right on no sports. I think it is clear that sports with fans is a no go. Probably for a while. However, with proper testing and isolation, I think they could easily go on. There is no less social distancing on the sports field as there is at, say, a beach in Jacksonville.....
4. Bringing me to that point - the #FloridaMoron hashtag started when Jacksonville opened its beach on April 17, about 2 weeks ago. Timeframe for showing COVID symptoms is 2-14 days. So, how is Jacksonville doing anyway:

For those who have trouble with graphs, new cases in Jacksonville from 4/24-4/28 averaging around 12 per day down significantly from its peak of 57 on 4/6. There is no spike, and I doubt there will be. But the world was ending according to the whole nation. Floridians are a lot of things, but morons isn't really one of them. At least not all the time.
And, no one gets tested before they go to the beach. Athletes, coaches, etc. will be significantly tested, and if anyone tests positive, things will get shut down. But I think it is a stretch to shut it down before trying. The results may surprise you.
